Help us push hi-fi DSP forward.

We're a small engineering team in Richmond, Virginia, designing the AC650 and the AirDSP control software that drives it. We're looking for hands-on operators who care about sound, ship real products, and want their work in front of serious listeners.

Two roles are open right now.

Full-time / Richmond, VA

Expert Electrical Engineer

Analog, digital, and embedded audio systems.

About the role

Acoustas is expanding its engineering team and is seeking an electrical engineer to join us in designing and delivering high-performance audio products. This role is for an engineer with deep experience across analog and digital electronics who is comfortable working at the intersection of hardware, embedded firmware, and sound.

You will work directly with our lead electrical engineer and collaborate closely with firmware and software teams to design, prototype, and bring to market DSP-driven audio hardware. The role requires hands-on ownership, strong technical judgment, and a genuine passion for sound quality.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and refine analog and digital circuits for audio and embedded systems
  • Lead schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration, and design reviews
  • Develop and integrate microcontroller-based systems, including ESP32 and related platforms
  • Work closely with firmware engineers on hardware bring-up, debugging, and optimization
  • Design audio signal paths with careful attention to noise, grounding, power integrity, and performance
  • Prototype, test, and iterate hardware designs through multiple revision cycles
  • Support product validation, compliance preparation, and manufacturing handoff
  • Contribute to architectural decisions across hardware, firmware, and system design

Technical focus areas

  • Analog audio circuitry: input stages, gain structures, filtering, and power management
  • Digital systems: microcontrollers, clocks, interfaces, and mixed-signal design
  • Embedded platforms such as ESP32 and similar MCUs
  • High-speed and low-noise PCB design considerations
  • Hardware bring-up, debugging, and measurement
  • Design for manufacturability and long-term reliability

Required experience

  • 6 or more years of professional electrical engineering experience
  • Track record designing both analog and digital circuits in production products
  • Extensive experience developing with ESP32 or comparable microcontrollers
  • Strong understanding of mixed-signal design and embedded hardware systems
  • Experience shipping consumer or professional electronic products
  • Hands-on experience prototyping, testing, and iterating hardware designs
  • Ability to work effectively within an existing engineering team

Preferred qualifications

  • Background in audio engineering or pro audio product development
  • Deep understanding of analog audio signal paths and system-level audio performance
  • Experience with KiCad and Altium Designer
  • Familiarity with DSP-based audio systems and related hardware constraints
  • Experience launching consumer electronics or professional audio products at scale
  • Strong intuition for sound quality and hardware tradeoffs

Why join

  • Work on high-performance audio products used by serious builders and audio professionals
  • Collaborate with a small, highly technical team across hardware, firmware, software, and acoustics
  • Solve real-world engineering problems spanning analog, digital, and embedded systems
  • Influence product architecture from early design through production

Role / Brand
Full-time

Creative Director, Brand & Content

Turning audio engineering into cultural awareness.

About the role

Acoustas is looking for a Creative Director for Brand Strategy and Content to help scale our brand from a respected product within the audio community into a globally recognized name in high-performance sound.

This role is for an operator who has lived through brand growth in consumer electronics or hardware and understands what it takes to move from early traction to global presence. You will define how Acoustas is seen, understood, and experienced across platforms, markets, and audiences.

You will own both the marketing strategy and its execution. Content, campaigns, launches, paid media, social presence: this role is hands-on by design. You will work closely with engineering, product, and external creatives to translate technically sophisticated audio products into a coherent global brand narrative.

This is not a role for someone who only delegates. We are looking for someone who builds.

What you will do

  • Define and evolve the Acoustas brand narrative, voice, and visual language
  • Create and execute a global brand and content strategy across platforms
  • Develop and publish original content that brings people into the Acoustas universe
  • Create and edit short-form and long-form video content
  • Collaborate with local videographers and creative partners to plan, shoot, and release content
  • Own social media strategy, posting cadence, and community engagement
  • Plan and execute product launches, campaigns, and ongoing brand initiatives
  • Own and optimize paid advertising across relevant platforms
  • Translate complex, technical audio products into clear, engaging storytelling
  • Analyze performance, iterate quickly, and refine messaging based on results

Experience that matters most

We are particularly interested in candidates who have helped scale a consumer electronics or hardware brand into a global presence. Experience building brand systems, launching products internationally, and maintaining consistency across markets is highly valued.

Direct experience in audio or professional audio products is a strong plus, but not required. What matters most is the ability to communicate technical depth with clarity and taste, and to build trust with a global audience.

What we are looking for

  • Experience leading and executing brand and content efforts for a consumer electronics or hardware company
  • Strong hands-on content creation skills including writing, video editing, and publishing
  • Clear creative judgment and a refined sense of taste
  • Comfort appearing on camera or directing on-camera talent
  • Experience running and optimizing paid campaigns
  • Ability to move seamlessly from strategy to execution
  • Strong ownership mentality and attention to detail
  • Comfort working closely with engineers and technically complex products

Preferred experience

  • Background in audio, technology, or enthusiast-driven products
  • Experience marketing premium consumer or professional products
  • Familiarity with YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging platforms
  • Experience working with external videographers and creative teams
  • Strong intuition for community building and long-term brand equity
  • Genuine interest in sound, music, or audio systems

Why Acoustas

  • Help scale a technically respected audio product into a global brand
  • Work directly with the team and community, shaping the future of sound
  • Own creative direction, not just execution
  • Build a brand through clarity, education, and craftsmanship
