I bought this unit to help with a large 3 way horn project where I wasn’t sure what the crossover points would end up being and with the length of the horn I knew I would need some time correction. Enter DSP. The 6 amplified channels are perfect for this project and the mix of other outputs has me thinking about easy future enhancements.
What I didn’t expect was how easy and convenient it is to use. The app lets you adjust everything in real time for an immediacy I’ve not experienced before. I’m looking forward to interactively measuring and tuning my build. The way it works allows for all kinds of remote placements as well. If you have wifi, you can wake it up remotely and enjoy it. No need for line of sight with an IR remote.
Honestly, this thing is awesome for loudspeaker development but having used it, I now see lots of other applications I can use it for as well. Thank you Acoustas for thinking outside the box and bringing something unique to the market.
App is very easy to use, well written. Amp does exactly what is supposed to do, very compact with high quality construction. As a DIY speaker builder, I am using the amp to identity crossover parameters for optimal performance before designing a passive crossover - so much better than trial and error. It is a well designed, excellent product and I expect to use it for additional purposes over time.
Really great dsp and mobile app part. Noise floor is almost silent. Amplifier is on the weak part, it is more like 30w 4ohm chanel. In small room is usable but.
I haven't been this excited in a long time after making an audio purchase! Received my unit and am blown away with the build quality, not to mention this thing could have survived any kind of shipping thrown at it. Very well packaged! I am in the process of building some speakers and will be utilizing the unit for power and crossovers. Can't wait until everything is all done! Thanks for making the process very easy from ordering to delivery to a very well executed product!
I wanted to include some pics. These custom speakers are far from perfect, but I have them bi-amped and have been tuning them with the AC650 phone app along with REW and a measurement mic and it is incredible how many imperfections I was able to fix with these old speakers. Next up, using the extra 2 channels to power some old music monitors and then getting these speakers integrated into my digital mixer for music jams!
Note the AC650 is sitting on the right leslie. The big black and blue speakers are the ones powered by the AC650 right now.
