I wanted modern features with my vintage phono setup and the AC650 is perfect after I added a AD converter to get my phono preamp to optical.
This system alone can run 3 sets of my favorite old speakers all over the house. That clears up my other AC650 for workshop so I can continue to tune of custom and vintage speakers.
It felt a little strange at first because even with the phono preamp and receiver there was still virtually no noise. The AC650 is so clean and clear it sounds great paired with the vintage speakers for a amazing and fun turntable setup that you can still just use bluetooth and spotify if you want to be lazy!
Im looking forward to doing some speaker and room measurements and really tuning this in.
Just got this Amp on Friday and had the weekend to play with it. It was fairly easy hook up my Maggies to it and to get it on my Wi-Fi network. Once I did, what a change. The sound is really transparent with new level to the soundstage. I played with the controls and I feel like I've got it. it is handy to control everything from my phone. Tuned in just right. It is a major improvement over my Technics SU-G700M2 that I like very much as well but after playing around with the settings, there is a big difference. It sounds so much more open and real. Live music is my favorite so far. We listen/watched Kacey Musgraves live in studio consert and wow what a difference it was lovely.
The only thing I will need to figure out is the phono input. That's the only thing I think is missing. However, I am thinking about the Music Hall PA2.2 I might try that one since it has USB out. The Pro-ject Optical Box E looks to be good option but need to do more homework. Anyway so far so good. The app implementation is by far the best I've ever tried on any audio gear. I mostly use it to control the basics like on Austin volume but there's so much you can do. It's pretty exciting actually. I'm really happy with it so far.
